Fine Wine Club by Barry Weinman

Fine Wine Club was established in 2009 as a service dedicated to reviewing and recommending wines for my readers enjoyment. Wines are recommended on several factors:

  1. The ability to deliver drinking pleasure now
  2. What potential does the wine have to age
  3. Does the wine offer something different or interesting that makes it more interesting than average
  4. Value for money
  5. Availability

It is important for me to be as unbiased/independent as possible. Where possible, wines are tasted blind and no fee is accepted for reviewing wines. Having said that, most of the wines that are reviewed are samples provided by the wineries/distributors so there is always the risk of some bias.

Where the tasting is not blind, or where I have received hospitality as part of attending the tasting (dinner etc), I make note of this in my notes.

Fine Wine Club’s regular tastings are run in a panel format, with several industry veterans sitting on the panel. A special thank needs to go to John Jens who has been a mentor to me and continues to be an active contributor to the panel.
